About this collection:
The ‘Closer’ collection explores certain aspects of the intimate and complex relationship between jewellery and the human body. With her work the artist searches the answers in what ways contemporary jewellery can be got even “Closer” to the wearer.
The pieces in the collection explore and capture the wearer’s body space and their relationship to the body. In doing so, they create opportunities for them to perceive and experience their body spaces from different perspectives. Jewellery, as a wearable piece created for the body, precisely delinates the wearer’s personal intimate body space, which is transformed into jewellery and thus becomes wearable, transferable or even giftable.
The negative spaces of the human body create exciting and abstract forms that are at once sculptural and sophisticated, sharp and dynamic. Interactive yin-yang relationship between the object and personal space is evoked.
The theme then moves from the physical dimension to a spiritual one, in which form follows a process of detachment from the material world, drawing on the inescapable power of colour and the vibrational energies that nourish us all. Jewellery carries symbolic energy and meaning through colour. Colours, like light and sound, have frequencies that influence our feelings and well-being. These pieces have been designed to enhance the energy of their choice with the benefits of colour therapy: the collection is adorned with opals in the colours of the seven Chakras.

The connection between the jewellery and the body creates a form of intimacy. This close, intimate context means that the jewellery functions as a symbol of the self, as a signifier of aspects of identity.
The designer considers the jewellery pieces as physical and mental representations.
